Dana Barooshian

Career Summary

Mr. Barooshian is a forensic accountant with over 20 years professional experience performing financial and compliance audits, internal control evaluations, risk assessments, and financial consulting engagements for a diverse group of independent federal agencies, charters schools, nonprofit organizations and commercial entities. After early career experiences with competitive intelligence, private investigation and investigative reporting, he entered public accounting in 1996 and became a Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Internal Controls Auditor, and developed specialized knowledge and experience with the federal government financial reporting, internal control and compliance requirements, as well as charters school finances and federal education program compliance requirements. He has managed high profile engagements such as audits of the Executive Office of the President – White House Travel Office, close out audit of the Panama Canal Commission, audits of the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, compliance audits of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reporting of affordable housing goals to HUD, and numerous independent federal agency and charter school audits performed under Government Auditing Standards. As a principal in Chortek & Gottschalk, LLP, he is director of the Martin & Wall division serving government and nonprofit clients and manages all aspects of quality management and client relationships. Degrees include a BA in Sociology and MBA. Mr. Barooshian had a top secret eligible clearance, which is currently inactive.
